Become a GA Delegate for AY 2026–2027
Graduate Assembly (GA) Delegates represent the voices of graduate and professional students across UC Berkeley. If you’re passionate about advocacy, community, and making change, consider becoming a Delegate for your academic unit.
Who Can Be a Delegate?
According to the GA Charter, each academic unit (department, group, or program) is entitled to:
1 Delegate per 100 graduate students (or fraction thereof)
Check the 2026-2027 Delegate Directory to see how many Delegates your academic unit can have.

How to Become a Delegate
Step One: Express interest by connecting with your
- Graduate Student Affairs Officer (GSAO), or
- Departmental Graduate Student Association (DGSA)
They can explain your department’s nomination or election process.
You can also contact current delegates in your department via the Delegate Directory.
Step Two: Submit Required Forms
Complete the following:
If you are a new or returning delegate you must submit each form. If both forms have not been submitted, you will not be able to serve as a delegate. If multiple delegates are appointed, a separate approval form must be submitted for each one.
Step Three: Join GA Platforms
- Review the GA Zoom Guide (Updated Sept 2021)
- Join the GA Delegate Slack Workspace
When joining Slack, format your name as:
First Name, Last Name, Department, Position, Pronouns
Example: Julio Ángel, Education Delegate, He/Él
Step Four: Attend New Delegate Orientation & Mixer
- Date: Thursday, September 3rd, 2026
- Time: 5:00–7:00 PM
- Location: ASUC Senate Chambers (5th Floor, Eshleman Hall)
Attendance is required for all new Delegates.
Delegate Assembly Meetings
Meetings are held monthly on the first Thursday, except in September, when the meeting occurs on the second Thursday due to Orientation. Dinner will be served at 4:30pm.
