Campus Affairs Committee

Purpose

The Campus Affairs Committee shall aid the Vice President for Campus Affairs in studying and making recommendations to the Delegate Assembly on issues related to campus policies and procedures. It shall also assist the Vice President for Campus Affairs in organizing, recruiting, and planning efforts that are the responsibility of the Vice President for Campus Affairs.

February 5, 2009

The deadline for the Faculty Mentor Award (FMA) is Friday, February 13th, at 6 pm. Please visit: http://ga.berkeley.edu/gis.aspx?uid=133 for information on eligibility, and to download an application. If you are interested in serving on the FMA selection committee, please e-mail cavp@ga.berkeley.edu with your name and you will receive e-mails regarding meeting times. Campus Affairs will be mostly working on selecting the winners and planning the award ceremony for the next two months.


December 4, 2008

Campus Affairs analyzed the above reports and, by the end of the 1st week in December, will have put out the initial call for nominations for the Faculty Mentor Awards. If you think you have a professor who has been an outstanding mentor, please look for nomination instructions in the December issue of e-Grad, or e-mail Triffid Abel at cavp@ga.berkeley.edu with your inquiries.

The Campus Affairs Committee (CAC) met and analyzed six resolutions (0810a, 0810c, 0810d, 0810e, 0811a, and 0811b), the analyses can befound in the GA meeting materials for the November Delegate Meeting. Planning for the 2008-2009 FacultyMentor Awards (FMA) has begun. Atthe next CAC meeting, we will discuss FMA applications, and calls fornominations, as well as analyze more resolutions. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 11th,in Anthony Hall – everyone is welcome. If you wish to attend and you are not on the CAC, please e-mail Triffid at cavp@ga.berkeley.edu

October 2, 2008

We had our first meeting. GA Resolution 0809a and 0809b were discussed. Next meeting we will start discussing the Faculty Mentorship Award (FMA) that will be given out in the Spring. The GA and Graduate Division work together on the ceremony/reception, as they give out other awards at the same time. October's Campus Affairs meeting will primarily focus on getting the committee up to speed on what the FMA are, and our role in giving them out. Our next meeting is TBA, please contact Triffid Abel at cavp@ga.berkeley.edu if you are interested in attending. We will also be reviewing more resolutions.
