mental health

Mental health is just as important as physical health— and for many of us, our minds are our greatest assets. That's why the GA has launched a new campaign focusing on graduate student well-being.

The graduate health initiative is a project offering academic support and education for graduate students, with the goal of maintaining and diffusing healthy behaviors and lifestyles throughout our community. This year the project will focus on:

  • building social networks, through diverse friendships, group involvement, and social activities
  • educating grad students about how mental health impacts academic performance— for example, teaching you how to treat depression, irritability, or anxiety when you recognize it in yourself, a colleague, or a friend
  • creating an environment in which healthy behaviors (like getting adequate sleep, maintaining social ties, and breaking out of your office for a little exercise now & then) are the norm— not the exception
This project will include a lecture series as well. More details to come.
